New Images for Nuremberg Concert Hall Released

Architecture firms Topotek 1, Johannes Kappler Architektur und Städtebau, and Super Future Collective have released new images for the Nuremberg Concert Hall. While the project is on hold due to the pandemic, the competition-winning design was made as an addition to the ensemble of the Meistersingerhalle. The project is driven by the 1960s architecture of the existing building, and will address acoustic issues to provide a world-class space for performance.

Urban Agency Designs New "Vancouver Forest" Block in Canada

Architecture firm Urban Agency has shared new details of their Vancouver Forest development in Canada. Taking inspiration from the forest regions of the area, the project includes timber, bamboo and greenery to form a sustainable block for the city. As a series of stepped terraces, the project was designed as a 'living canopy' with trees and foliage growing along the building envelope.

Marlon Blackwell Architects Unveils Live-Work Quonset Huts for Texas

Marlon Blackwell Architects has designed a series of eight live-work Quonset huts as part of a larger development project in Fort Worth, Texas. Working with landscape architect Julie Bargmann of D.I.R.T studio and Studio Outside, the team created the proposal for Prince Concepts. The project has broken ground, and will include 5,500 square feet of office space and three retail locations, as well as a public park.

Ford Assembly Plant Renovation Tops Out in Pittsburgh

ZGF Architects, Wexford Science & Technology, and The University of Pittsburgh have revealed new details of the Ford Motor Assembly Plant adaptive reuse in Pittsburgh. Called The Assembly, the project aspires to become a hub of university research, entrepreneurial activity, and innovation programming. The six-story crane shed was used to hoist parts unloaded from the Pennsylvania Railroad tracks for assembly.

Heatherwick and Haworth Tompkins Reveal New Olympia Theatre

Haworth Tompkins, Heatherwick Studio and Spparc have shared new details of the first major new London theatre in over 45 years. The Olympia Theatre is part of the £1.3bn redevelopment of the Olympia exhibition center designed by Heatherwick Studio and Spparc. The 1,575-seat venue in west London will be operated by Trafalgar Entertainment, and the design includes a five-story building with a stacked auditorium.

Praksis Arkitekter Designs New VELUX Innovation Building

Praksis Arkitekter has won the competition to transform an old timber warehouse for VELUX Group in Østbirk, Denmark. As the company's largest production site, it will be transformed into a best-in-class innovation center. The existing wooden building was originally inaugurated in 1995 as a warehouse. The new rebuilt building will house most of the product development that VELUX Group is doing, which today is spread across the country and abroad.

World's Largest Single-Domed Greenhouse Design Unveiled

Foster + Partners Designs Sustainable Masterplan in Bangkok

Foster + Partners have shared the design for a residential-led masterplan on the outskirts of Bangkok. Dubbed The Forestias, the project includes a large forest at its heart. The design was made to address the growing disconnect between contemporary city life and family traditions. The Forestias proposal focuses on promoting multi-generational family co-living and new models of urban life in Thailand.
