In these hypothetical designs entitled "Casa Futebol", Architects Axel de Stampa and Sylvain Macaux of 1Week1Project have proposed a reappropriation of Brazil's World Cup venues by inserting housing units of approximately 105 square meters into the existing structures. The designs are tailored to each stadium, allowing them to continue to operate smoothly, with part of the money raised by ticket revenue used to finance the construction and maintenance of dwellings. By either replacing part of the stands with the prefabricated units or by occupying the external facade, Casa Futebol adds a human scale to these monumental buildings.

Axel de Stampa and Sylvain Macaux are two architects trained at the École d'Architecture de Paris-Belleville. Currently they divide their time between Paris and Santiago, Chile.
In 2013, they created the office 1week1project and set the challenge of producing one project of "spontaneous architecture" per week. Though they have "only" produced 25 projects so far, the challenge continues. "No matter what the space, whether it be urban, rural or digital, there are always new possibilities it can offer, waiting to be borne out: to turn it into a leisure space, to bring out dramatic emotions, to place the public back at the center of the design, and endless others. It’s up to us to give it a new identity and reveal the place for what it is," they say.
"This work in progress is a collective enterprise : by calling upon different people, we mix a truly multidisciplinary practice with our desire to hear from different viewpoints."
These hypothetical designs were not created with the approval of the architects or the organizers of the 2014 Brazil World Cup.
