GTV celebrates 100 years from Otto Wagner’ s passing (11th of April, 1918), reinterpreting the POSTSPARKASSE armchair he designed in 1906 for the namesake headquarters of the Post Office Savings Bank in Vienna. Combining minimalism, exclusivity and eye for detail, POSTSPARKASSE represents a clear expression of modern Viennese art, introducing for the first time the use of wood with a square cross-section - instead of a round one -, which defines its rigorous profile. The Special Edition is characterised by the details in copper which personalize the embracing and ergonomic structure in solid bent beech wood and by the upholstery from the Maharam collection defined by a peculiar decoration by Josef Hoffman, Otto Wagner’ s scholar, among the Viennese Secession founders. Like the echo of a drum, the Djembé collection is designed for repetition, creating musical compositions of light. A bell-shaped ceiling fixture with an exposed interior, Djembé is available in a numerous sizes and bright, airy colors that can be used individually or combined to create a brilliant statement piece. Using a rotomolding technique allowed the designer, Joan Gaspar, to design a fixture with vastly different interiors and exteriors: its outside recalls the texture of a stone, giving off a perception of great weight, emphasized by its volume. In the spacious interior you’ll find a smooth, white space perfect for the reflection of light. Djembé is a lamp designed for use in public spaces that seeks to bring beauty and an unbeatable quality of light.

A lamp originated by experimentation with surfaces and their relationship with light and the surrounding environment. The research by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba with Foscarini into new surfaces began with blown glass, via tactile textures, until it reached the irregular and organic Bump. The surface displays playfully intentional bumps and dents, for a fresh, informal appearance. Three different finishes and therefore great flexibility to add a stylish touch also to public venues.

Faced with the challenge of lighting very large spaces, this year the Djembé collection is growing in every sense of the word: starting in 2020, we are introducing new ceiling and pendant versions that are over a meter in diameter, featuring the same finishes as the rest of the collection. The pendant version is notable for its intense visual impact, combining beauty and strength as it projects large amounts of indirect light.
